Nursery Ministry

The team of nursery care
givers main objective is to make you and your child feel welcome and part of
our church family here at Washington
Church
through the volunteers and activities that God has placed in this ministry.
We are located in the east wing of the building and we are divided into
separate rooms according to age groups. We strive to have our nursery a
clean, friendly, safe place for our children. The green room is the first
door on the right as you enter the east wing, which is our infant room.
Down the hall last door on the left is the blue room that is our toddler
room (18 to 36 months) and directly across the hall is the preschool room (3
to 5 year olds).
One of the big
reasons our nursery rooms are such terrific places for our little ones is
because of our volunteers, or more correctly “God’s volunteers.” It’s about
God calling faithful people into our ministry and speaking to their hearts
to care and nurture our little ones so they and their parents can experience
a closer walk with God. The loving care given in the nursery builds
wonderful foundations of trust, affection and security which will go a long
way in helping children to be receptive to the instruction about God. Be
assured that our volunteers go through a background check.
We nursery workers
aren’t big on structure, although we try. We are people lovers, and our
experiences of working with the kids has taught us that our plans can fall
apart in a heartbeat. We learn to value flexibility and thinking on our
feet.
We have a visual
paging system to alert you should we need your assistance. You will receive
a numbered bracelet when you check your child in, and should your child need
you during the service your number will appear on the small screen located
on the front upper left side of the sanctuary wall.
When the children
arrive in our nursery we know something wonderful will happen today. God
will use us to show our children good things happen here; love, kindness and
nurturing. So let’s thank God for this opportunity to show our children
Jesus’ love through our ministry.
Little children
remind us not to take ourselves too seriously and they are our reason and
excuse to be playful. I have met some of my best friends in the nursery and
I will cherish them for a life time. In His Glorious Name
