Children's Sunday School
Spiritual training is a
distinct responsibility that God appoints to parents, but it is also
a special privilege that you have been given. To do so from the
beginning of his/her life is a profound gift with lifelong benefits.
Washington Church Sunday
School program is willing to assist in this spiritual development, but it
does not intend to usurp the privileged responsibility given to moms, dads,
and grandparents. You, the parents, can count on your Sunday School leader
to present the biblical truth in class each week through a variety of ways
including; Praise and Worship, Bible Story with Scripture Verse, and
Application of these truths through crafts and/or activities that appeal to
different learning styles. Your Sunday School leaders are counting on the
parents to clarify and build on to the introduction that has been made in
the classroom.
The elementary program
will provide a foundation from which a life-long relationship with God can
take place. Your curriculum for elementary children 252 Basics,
and the VegieTales curriculum for the pre-school children,
will take the Bible message from the head to the heart, joining the heart of
a child to the heart of God.
As a parent of the
elementary school children, your child will be given a “Refrigerator Door”
card which is the weekly update that will give you the Core Virtue, Memory
Verse, Bottom Line (key concept), a question to ask your child, and a
preview of the next week’s session. We will also provide your child with a
GodTime Card. This is intended to focus their attention as they begin to
spend time reading the Bible and talking to God at home.
Talking about the Bible
Story, activities, Scripture verse and Worship music is a great way to train
your child in godly thinking. It is nourishment for their spiritual growth.
We encourage you to join
us during Sunday school to see and hear the truths they are learning here at
Washington Church. We hope that you too will see that finding Jesus and
worshiping Him brings great joy!
